Fuxin city has a population of 19 million (urban population is 0.77 Million) and covers an area of 10,362 sq km. It governs two counties of Fuxin Mongolia Autonomous County and Zhangwu County and five districts of Haizhou, Taiping, Xinqiu, Qinghemen and Xihe Haizhou district is the political, economic and cultural centre of the city.

Infrastructure
Located in the central part of Bohai Economic Ring, the city of Fuxin is close to the golden seacoast and boasts some highly complementary advantages in its economic co-operation with other major cities in this area such as Beijing, Tianjin, Shenyang and Dalian.

A number of power and thermoelectric stations make Fuxin free of power shortages. Two national level railway lines connect it with other parts of the country and high-quality highways cover the whole area of Fuxin. The newly finished Fuxin-Jinzhou road of 140 kilometres greatly increases the city's import and export handling capacity. Modern communication facilities enhance Fuxin's links with the outside world in various ways, such as programme-controlled telephones and internet access.

Natural Resources
Fuxin city was founded in 1940 and its name was given in 1904. In Chinese, Fuxin means "Rich resources and people live In plenty". The city has a long historic culture. The earliest jade articles and the earliest dragon veined potsherds in China were unearthed In ”Chahai Ruina”.

Fuxin city is known as "The city of coal and electric power". It is an important energy resources base in China, and has large-sized coal mines (ten million tons a year) and thermal power plants.

Fuxin Paishan gold mine is a very famous gold mine in China with output of 3,000 kilograms every year. Fuxin boasts the largest sillicon sand base for Liaoning. Besides the natural resources, Fuxin has a rich cultural heritage and tourism attractions.

Tourism and Culture
Chahai culture: Relics of the ancient Chahai culture of 8,000 years ago are found in Fuxin, which is also called "The First Village in China," and the city was authorized as the National Key Unit for Cultural Relic Protection in 1996.

Daqinggou scenic spot: 60 km from the city in the northeast,is really a seldom seen natural landscape where a clear lake ripples in a big desert and is well known for its unique sand, clear water and forest.

Haitang Mountain National Forest Park which is marvellous for its groups of rare stone curved statues of Buddha mission from Tibet Fuxin is a missionary center of Tibetan Buddha in eastern part of China, so it is called" East Tibet" .It is a compact community place for Mongolia nationality,so the feelings of culture and custom of the minor nationality are very strong.

City of Agate: Fuxin fosters processing of the crude agate resource into a real work of art. With various types and forms, they reflect the wonderful skills of the craftsmen.

Many delicately carved agates have become treasures around the world. The products are sold overseas to over 20 countries and regions. The agate from Fuxin is widely regarded a special souvenir.
