Basic Information
Anshan is seated in the mid of the beautiful and richly endowed Liaodong peninsular, lying against Mt Qian in the east, adjoining the Liao River Plains in the west, neighboring the port cities, Yingkou and Dalian in the south and linking Shenyang, the Capital of Liaoning province in the north. Anshan is the largest base of iron and steel industry in China and has always been known as the "Steel Metropolis", It comprises of the city of Haicheng, the county of Taian and anchu autonomous county of Xiuyan as well as four urban districts (Tiedong, Tiexi, Lishan and Jirpu) under its jurisdiction, covering a total area of 9251 square meters, with a population is 3.396 million. It is one of the 50 cities with higher comprehensive strength of China.
Natural Resources
Anshan is under the continental monsoon climate in the warm temperate zone, with neither severe cold in winter nor intensive heat in summer, and with four distinct seasons, adequate sunshine, fertile land and abundant resources; Where there are over 30 large and small rivers such as the Liao River, the Hui River the Taizi River water and Other, with the total water volume of mater resources of 3.4 billion cubic meters and 0.25 million square hectares of farmland abounding in paddy rice, maize, soybean, sorghum, peanut and others along the rivers in the west and the middle plains, And there for Anshan is an important grain base in Liaoning province.

Transport and Communication
In Anshan the transport and communication facilities have tended to become complete via the construction for these years ,with overall service functions. Anshan is passed longitudinally by the Changchun-Dalian Railway, Shenyang-Dalian Express Highway and Harbin-Dalian Highway throughout its whole area, only 80 kilometers distant from Taoxian Airport in Shenyang, with airlines from Anshan Airport each straight to Beijing, Fushan (Guangdong) and Huizhou (Guangdong), and with special wharfs and ships at Lushun Port in Dalian and Bayuquan Port in Yingkou, basically forming a transport network with a "grade separation" with railways, highways, marine routes and airlines, extending to all directions.

Anshan has set up liaison offices respectively in 17 countries and regions such as America, Japan, Germany, Italy and Hongkong and bonded a relationship of friendly city each with Amagasaki in Japan, Sheffield in Britain, Bulsha in Turkey, Cipeicike in Russia and Anshan in the Republic of Korea.

In the last year we have established successively Anshan Development Zone of Industries of High and New Technologies, Tunao Development Zone, which have become the "Dragon head" taking lead in opening to the outside world in Anshan.

Travel and Transportation
Anshan city is rich in tourist resource with scenic spots scattered allover the city. Mt. Qian Scenic Spot is the most famous among them, being a focal-point spots of the State and always known as the Bright Pearl in the northeast of China.It is well known for its grotesque peaks, steep rocks and ancient temples. Mt.Qian has 38 temples built in Ming and Qing Dynasty, such as nine Temple, eight Tsoist Temple, Twelve Thatched Nun Temples and Five Grand Buddhist Temples,Twelve Thatched Nun Temples and Five Grand Buddhist Temples, and more than 180 natural and artificial sightseeing spots including stele and inscription.

Mt. Qianshan
Especially, it can be thought as a miracle that Buddhism and Taoism have their own positions in the same mountain. The discovery of Grand Buddha Maitreya adds more mysterious atmosphere to Mt. Gian.A seven color jade statue lf Buddha Garden, sculptured with the No. 1 jade stone in the world,peacefully sits in Buddha, which attracts domestic and overseas tourists to visit it.

The well-known Tanggangzi Hot Spring physiotherapy and Vacation Zone is one of four large recovery centers that cure patients through physical theropy in China.

Tanggangzi Spring
The zone is rich in hot spring which contains so many kinds lf minerals with the function of nourishing, body-building and illness-curing. The Feb. 19Park is the largest ond with nat-ural hills and waters in the northeast, lying in Dongshan Scenic Spot with beautiful scenery, where there are blue hills and green waters, with pagodas and pavilions mirrored in the lake and crooked paths leading to deep and quiet places;the landscape changing while one is strolling on.

There are also other natural and artificial sightseeing spots such as Mt. Yao in Xiuyan county, Mt. Baiyun and Stone Shed in Haicheng City. Forest Park and Mr. Zhang Xueliang's Former Home in Taian county.
